Last modified: 2014-10-11
Abstract
Here we report a nanoporous p-Si photoelectrodes for photoreduction of nitrates and function as niitrate photosensor. Nanoporous Si photoelectrodes were fabricated through metal assisted etching process and modified with different catalysts. Nitrates are photoelectrochemically reduced at nanoporous p-Si photoelectrode in nitrate-bearing solutions. The rate-determining step of the nitrate reduction process is significantly promoted by visible light illuminating.
2elec-trode in nitrate-bearing solutions. The rate-determining step of thenitrate reduction process is significantly promoted by band gap illu-mination, resulting in over 80% Faradaic efficiency. IPCE at1Vexceeds 60% at wavelengths of light below 580 nm.
